PAT scheme was launched in 2012.
Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme is a flagship programme of Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE).
NMEEE is one of the eight National missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) launched by the Government of India in the year 2008.
PAT is a regulatory instrument to reduce Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) in Energy intensive industries, with an associated market-based mechanism to enhance the cost effectiveness through certification of Excess Energy saving which can be traded.
The scheme has had six cycles so far, with the most recent, Cycle-VI, beginning in April 2020. Cycle-VI includes 135 DCs from six sectors, and is expected to save 1.277 MTOE of energy.
