The Science Summit at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) focuses on the vital role of science in addressing global challenges and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Science Summit has is origins in the Global Science Summit which was hosted by the European Parliament in 2013. Since then, it has evolved into a major event during UNGA, bringing together scientists, policymakers, and innovators to align scientific efforts with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Science Summit at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is primarily organized by ISC Intelligence in Science, a Brussels-based organization.
Key focus areas include climate action, One Health, biodiversity, food systems, artificial intelligence, science philanthropy, quality education, affordable and clean energy, indigenous knowledge, and more.
With respect to India:
India is going to participate in the 2024 summit.
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), as part of the Science Summit at the 79th United Nations General Assembly 2024 (SSUNGA79), is organized the "CSIR for Connect, Collaborate, Converge and Convert (5C) for Global Sustainable Development" on 18 and 19 September 2024.
