As many as 63 per cent of voters in Switzerland rejected an initiative to intensify the country’s biodiversity conservation efforts on September 22, 2024.

Voters in Switzerland have rejected a proposal to make authorities do more to protect natural habitats from pollution and development, preliminary results of a referendum have showed.

The voting was part of the latest Swiss referendums, which take place four times a year to give voters a direct say in policymaking in the country of around nine million people.
