The detailed toxicology report released by the ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, on the evening of November 5 shows that the stomach contents of the dead elephants had very high levels of cyclopiazonic acid – a toxin produced by fungi known to affect the crop.

In India, Kodo Millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum) is grown mostly in the Deccan region and the cultivation extends to the foothills of the Himalayas. Kodo millet is rich in dietary fiber and minerals like iron, antioxidants.
