World Drought Atlas 2024 report jointly published by UNCCD and European Commission Joint Research Centre.

Major drought events, 2022–2024: Examples of major drought events that occurred between 2022-24, with examples of impacted systems. Red areas represent the approximate spatial extent of drought impacts.

As per the report, five most important impacted systems due to droughts:

1. Drought can affect the availability of drinking water
2. Drought hazards for agriculture
3. Droughts affect the world‘s biggest renewable source of electricity
4. Droughts can obstruct transport on inland waterways
5. Intense, prolonged or frequent droughts can negatively impact ecosystem function.\\
