Current Affair 1:
Alliance on Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH)

Twenty twenty-one was very important year for the health community in addressing climate change. For the first time in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC, COP 26) negotiations, a formal health programme was promoted. The COP26 Health Programme included a total of four Heath Initiatives, including on climate resilient and low carbon sustainable health systems.

As of today, a total of 59 countries have committed at Minister of Health level, to strengthen the climate resilience and lower the emissions of health systems. These political commitments must now be turned into action at scale and pace. India is not a  part of this commitment.

A WHO-led mechanism to support delivery on the COP26 Health Commitments on Climate Resilient and Low Carbon Sustainable Health Systems, the Alliance for Transformative for Action on Climate Change and Health (ATACH), has been established.

ATACH will provide a platform for coordination; knowledge and best practice exchange; networks and access to support and link up to existing initiatives; tackling common challenges; and monitoring global progress. WHO will secretariat the Alliance.

Current Affair 2:
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)

From original website, we will learn everything about CHOGM.

Sabse pehle ye commonwealth existence main kaise aaya.

In 1887, first colonial conference took place.

Now in detail:

What they do?

The Commonwealth is an association of 54 countries working towards shared goals of prosperity, democracy and peace.

The Commonwealth Secretariat is the intergovernmental organisation which co-ordinates and carries out much of the Commonwealth's work, supported by a network of more than 80 organisations.

See what all they do.

The Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC) is the main way that the Commonwealth Secretariat provides technical help to Commonwealth countries.

The Commonwealth's roots go back to the British Empire. But today any country can join the modern Commonwealth.

Members:

It has 54 members. It has members all around the world.

We will see only Asian members:

Summits:

Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022 takes place 20-25 June 2022, in Kigali, Rwanda.

The theme for CHOGM 2022 is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.’

We ever had meeting in India: Yes, or no? see below.

Current Affair 3:
Central Advisory Board (CAB) on Disability

Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the Central Advisory Board (CAB) was established.

As per the Act, CAB must meet every 6 months.

Functions of Central Advisory Board on disability:

The Central Advisory Board shall meet at least once in every six months.

Member of the Central Advisory Board nominated shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of his nomination.

What is radio access network?

News: C-DOT signs agreement with Galore Networks for collaborative development of end-to-end 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products & solutions

A radio access network (RAN) is a major component of a wireless telecommunications system that connects individual devices to other parts of a network through a radio link.

The RAN links user equipment, such as a cell phone, computer or any remotely controlled machine, over a fiber or wireless backhaul connection. That link goes to the core network, which manages subscriber information, location and more.

The RAN, which is sometimes also called the access network, is the radio element of the cellular network. A cellular network is made up of land areas called cells. A cell is served by at least one radio transceiver, although the standard is typically three for cell sites.

RANs have evolved from the first generation (1G) to the fifth generation (5G) of cellular networking.

How does a RAN work?

  1. A RAN provides access to and coordinates the management of resources across the radio sites.
  2. A handset or other device is wirelessly connected to the backbone, or core network, and the RAN sends its signal to various wireless endpoints so it can travel with traffic from other networks.
  3. A single handset or phone could be connected at the same time to multiple RANs, sometimes called dual-mode handsets.

In second generation (2G) and third generation (3G) RAN architecture, the RAN controller manages the nodes connected to it.

With the advent of 4G LTE and an all-IP network, the layout of the radio access network has changed. In particular, the introduction of C-RAN has split the radios and antennas from the baseband controller to adapt better to the modern demands of mobile devices.

What is RAN in 5G?

The 5G New Radio (5G NR) standard is the latest radio interface and radio access technology for 5G cellular technology. The interface supports multiple frequency bands, including sub-6 gigahertz bands and millimeter wave (mmWave) bands, such as 24 GHz, 28 GHz and higher.

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is the premier R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India. C-DOT has indigenously designed and developed various cutting-edge Telecom technologies spanning Optical, Switching & Routing, Wireless, Security and host of Telecom Software applications. C-DOT has developed its indigenous 4G solution and is keenly working in the area of 5G.
