Details of UPSC Prelims Exam 2024 (15th September BATCH)
We are very happy to announce that we have entered the fifth year of this initiative and are launching the best Prelims Test Series for UPSC Prelims Exam 2024. It will not only give you confidence but will also take your preparation to another level and help you to clear this examination.
Before you proceed for this course, read basics of Prelims Exam as mentioned by UPSC:
Syllabus provided by UPSC for Prelims:
So, when is your exam next year in 2024?
“UPSC preparation is very beautiful journey. As usual, for any journey, you need to be careful, you need right guide who will take care of you throughout your journey, follow right approach and help you to take your destination with ease.
No, if we talk about UPSC exam, you all know we have three stages in it- Prelims, Mains, and Interview. But today, we will only talk about UPSC Prelims Exam.
Why clearing UPSC Prelims exam is very important to survive in this journey?
Once you get into preparation, you enter that trap which will be very difficult to break. Either you must clear exam, or else it will not be easy to leave and start something fresh from level 0.
Now, the very first thing you need to do here is- kuch bhi krke Prelims toh clear karna h (at any cost, I must clear Prelims exam). You cannot even imagine that if you are not able to clear Prelims exam, what your mental state will be. Even one failure is enough to take you to corner and believe me it is very difficult to regain confidence to start preparing for next year after one failure.
Once you clear Prelims exam, it gives you a clear message that you are eligible for this exam. It will keep you in race, you will be motivated and most important, you will start believing in yourself.
Another most important thing is, your parents will start believing in you and they will help you in both ways, emotionally and financially.
Now, it is very important to understand how you will clear Prelims exam?
It’s a simple calculation. Every year, lakhs of students give Prelims exam. Take any survey, only 50-60k students seriously work hard for this exam ‘in right way’. For Mains exam, out of this, around 12k are getting selected. So, for every 5-6 students, 1 student is getting selected. It’s not at all difficult. It is the easiest format.
Just take example of other state level exam, you wait for years, competition is in lakhs. So, if you have chosen UPSC, be happy, you have done very right thing. Just you need to put all your energy into it.
Lots of Test Series are available in the market, so which one we should practice? How many Test Series we should practice? How we should select Tet Series? Sit relaxed. We are going to answer every such question.
There are many categories of students who are giving exam, but we will majorly categorize students into two:
- Students with weak grasping power, moving every small step takes time (takes more time as usual)
- Those who are smart, intelligent, who grasp things easily.
But it is important to note here, the procedure of preparation is the same for both categories of students. For example, every student has to read basics, then standard books, prepare for the optional subjects, prepare ethics, practice answer writing, etc.
But then, when it comes to PRACTICE QUESTIONS, things change. Students start finding it difficult to solve questions. Some students are not even able to solve basic questions while others get stuck with other standard questions.
It is important to understand that just reading books without practice will take you nowhere. You won’t get any experience, confidence, and courage to face UPSC questions. You will always try to skip questions. And the result is, you FAIL IN PRELIMS ITSELF.
Prelims is divided into two parts.
- GS paper 1
- GS Paper 2 (CSAT)
GS Paper 1:
When you complete reading your entire syllabus of Prelims exam, it is just 40 percent of your Preparation. 60 percent counts to practice. It does not matter how much you read, jb tk aap questions solve ni kroge, knowledge about that topic is just 40 percent.
There are many topics, concepts, headings which you cannot cover on your own. You need to practice some good set of questions to know hidden concepts. So, it becomes extremely important that you choose right Test Series for practice.
GS Paper 2:
CSAT is another challenge if you are an average student. It is qualifying paper. You need to score 33 percent marks in CSAT paper. But jitni aasani se aap ye sun rhe ho, utna aasan hai ni isko crack krna (you may find it easy, but it is the most difficult paper if you are an average student).
A small test is required for all students to do before you decide anything about CSAT. Solve any paper from last three years CSAT exam. Check your score. If it is:
- Less than 50, start practicing CSAT for 30 minutes daily from August 2023.
- Between 50 to 80, start practicing 30 minutes daily from January.
- More than 80, practice 4-5 papers before Prelims exam.
Always remember that you will get approx. 1: 30 hr to clear this CSAT paper. So, when you practice, your target should be 1 hour= 23 correct questions. This needs to be achieved at any cost.
Why you need Goaltide as a platform for UPSC Prelims exam?
Try to understand. This is very important for you.
No coaching in India can tell you that if you join my coaching, you will clear exam 100 percent. They can’t even guarantee 10 percent success before exam. The drama only starts when results are out.
Can any coaching come out with model paper assuring 15 percent of questions in the paper going to appear in UPSC Prelims exam. No. 100 percent it is no.
The reason is very much clear:
- Syllabus is too large to predict.
- You don’t know how UPSC is going to change trend of questions.
Conclusion is, every year paper is new. With experience or without experience, paper is new to every aspirant. Kisi ke liye easy ni h paper if we take any year. Ab kya kare phir?? (What to do now?)
The only thing which is left is- “Prepare yourself in way, that you can handle ‘any paper’ with ease, with confidence and with a belief that you can clear UPSC Prelims exam”. Don’t look for or expect similar questions of Test Series to appear in exam. Koi bhi question aayga, use todunga (I will hit hard any question that appear).
So, how you will prepare? Here comes Goaltide Prelims IAS Platfom…
Goaltide is an institution which is fully dedicated towards UPSC Prelims Exam. We prepare students to learn basic elements required to clear UPSC Prelims Exam. How we train students?
Why you should not depend on other Test Series available in the market?
We find two major problems with Test Series available in markets:
- Most of the questions are outdated. No relevance in today’s scenario.
- There is huge gap between available Test Series and UPSC asked questions. You will never be able to prepare yourself with the help of such questions.
But why most of the students practice them?
- It’s a brand now. Students are bound to choose them.
- Huge advertisements. They influence students.
- Large number of Tests. It attracts students.
- Last, but not the least, they have not heard of any good ones, For example, Goaltide Prelims Test Series.
So, where these Test Papers lack? What are the consequences? Read carefully.
- It will never ever prepare you for the test, you are going to take in examination hall.
- You can never gauge your performance based on the scores of these Tests (solving irrelevant questions make no sense)
- Before examination, you have to deal with all irrelevant topics in these papers while revising.
When we should start Practicing Prelims Test Series?
Now this is very important.
As this academy is running exclusively for upsc Prelims exam, no one can give you better suggestion. Ok, whatever I say today will be based on the fact in respect to any Test Series you choose. I won’t talk only about Goaltide Prelims test Series.
Chahe aap jitni marzi topic padhle, aakhri main aapki knowledge question ke through hi pta chalegi. (It doesn’t matter how much you study, in the end you have to solve question correct to prove your hard work).
For example,
You studied Attorney General; I ask you Attorney General’s salary is decided by Parliament by law or President. You will say President. But when you solve Test Series, you will come to know, he does not receive salary. He gets remuneration.
Aur ye baat aap chahte ho ki aapko jan/feb main pta chale, jb aapka time advance questions krne ka h..(This you will come to know in the month of Jan/Feb when exam is near)
So, point is as soon as you have completed NCERTs, start Test Series.
Basics se start kro..I want by the end of December, you complete all difficult portions, concepts and important learning.
UPSC Prelims paper is very dangerous. This exam is not for selection, this is for elimination. They will eliminate lakhs of students.
Simple schedule:
- By December/January, complete your subject specific tests.
- Feb till exam: Advance preparation.
Do not do mistake of joining Test Series too late unless you are more than average student, smart and talented. You will crash in Prelims.
Which Test Series you should Practice? How to decide?
This is very difficult talk.
How you exactly choose one?
- Brand name/advertisements
- Someone suggested
- Attracted towards number of Tests in less rupee
- Freely available. Jo free main h, use kr lete h.
Test series plays very important role in your preparation. Without Test Series, you are not ready for Prelims. Aap 50 baar padhlo ek topic, kuch baatein aapko Test Series hi sikhati h..(It doesn’t matter you read topic 50 times, you can’t’ learn 100 percent about that topic till you solve Tests).
How to choose?
- See the results of last year of that coaching where they got help in Prelims, not as Mains or interview.
- Go to coaching’s website and solve Prelims demo Questions (40-50 questions).
- Check the way of explaining questions. See whether they are giving best explanations or not. Without good explanations, it is rubbish.
- If you are mature enough, check the format of questions. Are questions being direct, they are troubling you, it is making you think or not, you are taking pause or not, etc.
- After this just try to find, they have personal mentor or not. You will 100 percent need a guide with whom you can talk, ask your general queries as well.
If above all is satisfied, join that Test Series. It will help you to clear exam. Agar aap paise save karne main wrong Test Series chose kroge , toh aap eliminate ho jaooge Jeevan main.(If you just choose wrong Test Series in order to save money, you will be eliminated in this journey)
Just understand this,
When you have come for preparation for UPSC, you have sacrificed lot of things, most importantly the revenue part. I will explain you a simple math.
After graduation, at least if not more, you can earn 25-30k per month in any sector if you are willing to work. It accounts to approx. 3.5 Lakhs/year. This 3.5 you are not earning because of this exam.
Then for the entire year, you have to expend on food and accommodation, it counts to minimum 15 k per month. Total for this approx. 2 Lakh.
Third is your extra expenditures. So, all together it cost you approx. 7 lakhs.
So, for every year (if you fail at any stage), you are just putting 7 lakhs into it. And in the end if you quit after 4-5 years, it is around 35-40 Lakhs.
So, whatever you choose, choose well. You have just 2-3 years.
