SpaceTech Innovation Network (SpIN)
News:
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Social Alpha today signed an MoU to launch SpaceTech Innovation Network (SpIN), India’s first dedicated platform for innovation curation and venture development for the space entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A one-of-its-kind public-private collaboration for start-ups and SMEs in the space industry, this novel partnership is a significant step forward in providing further stimulus to India’s recent space reform policies and will work towards identifying and unleashing the market potential of the most promising space tech innovators and entrepreneurs in India.
SpIN will primarily focus on facilitating space tech entrepreneurs in three distinct innovation categories: Geospatial Technologies and Downstream Applications; Enabling Technologies for Space & Mobility; and Aerospace Materials, Sensors, and Avionics.

National Commission for Backward Classes
National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) was initially constituted by the Central Govt by the National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 and so far, the Commission had been reconstituted 7 times up to 2016.
The National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 (27 of 1993) has been repealed through the National Commission for Backward Classes (Repeal) Act, 2018 dated 14.08.2018.
The present Commission (8th) has been accorded Constitutional Status and constituted through “The Constitution (One Hundred and Second Amendment) Act, 2018” Act dated 11.8.2018, whereby Article 338B has been inserted, forming a Commission for the socially and educationally backward classes to be known as National Commission for Backward Classes.
The Commission consists of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and three other Members in the rank & pay of Secretary to the Govt of India and their condition of service and tenure of office has been notified vide Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Notification dated 23.08.2018.

International Drought Resilience Alliance
International Drought Resilience Alliance was first announced by Spain at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2022 and was officially launched at the UNFCCC COP27 in November 2022.
The Alliance will function as a collaborative platform that catalyses political momentum and mobilizes resources for targeted actions to enhance drought resilience in countries, cities, and communities.
The work of the Alliance will be guided by a steering committee with balanced regional representation and membership open to all Member States and their organs, UN entities and international organizations, scientific institutions, development banks and other financing mechanisms as well as non-state actors and civil society stakeholders.

This “zero draft” of the pandemic accord
News:
Member States of the World Health Organization today agreed to develop the first draft of a legally binding agreement designed to protect the world from future pandemics. This “zero draft” of the pandemic accord, rooted in the WHO Constitution, will be discussed by Member States in February 2023.
