Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
News:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Awards took place on January 23, 2024 in Hyderabad.
About BCCI:
The BCCI was established in 1 December 1928 at Madras (currently Chennai) under Act XXI of 1860 of Madras and was subsequently reregistered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. It is a consortium of state cricket associations that select their own representatives who elect the BCCI president.
It joined the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1926 which later became the International Cricket Council.
The BCCI is an autonomous, private organization that does not fall under the purview of the National Sports Federation of India of Government of India and does not receive any grants from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The BCCI is influential in international cricket.
The International Cricket Council shares the largest part of its revenue with the BCCI.
The BCCI manages four squads that represent India in international cricket; the men's national cricket team, the women's national cricket team, the men's national under-19 cricket team and women's national under-19 cricket team.
It also governs developmental India A, India B and India A women's teams.
As part of its duties, the BCCI organizes and schedules matches to be played by each of these teams, and schedules, sanctions, and organizes domestic cricket in India.

In 2023, this is the first time India is solely hosting the 50-overs World Cup. They did it for the first time in 1987, then nine years later in 1996 and finally in 2011, but on all those occasions, they were joint hosts with either Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh hosting some of the matches.

Gasification of coal is a process in which coal is partially oxidated by air, oxygen, steam or carbon dioxide under controlled conditions to produce a fuel gas. The hot fuel gas is cooled in heat exchangers, with the production of steam, and cleaned before combustion in a gas turbine.
In industrial chemistry, coal gasification is the process of producing syngas—a mixture consisting primarily of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and water vapour (H2O)—from coal and water, air and/or oxygen.

The Ministry of Coal, through Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, has taken the initiative, National Coal Gasification Mission, that is to utilize coal through coal gasification, with the goal of achieving 100 MT coal gasification by 2030.

Cameroon starts world's first malaria vaccine program for children
News:
Cameroon will be the first country to routinely give children a new malaria vaccine as the shots are rolled out in Africa.
Cameroon will use the first of two recently approved malaria vaccines, known as Mosquirix. The World Health Organization endorsed the vaccine two years ago, acknowledging that even though it is imperfect, its use would still dramatically reduce severe infections and hospitalizations.
